- "In moments, I will be one with the creature. Then I fulfill my destiny and, finally, take my rest. Goodbye my friends. Wish me luck."
- —Ameonna to Lo Wang and Zilla.
Ameonna is of the Ancients, demon beings ruling over the Shadow Realm, who appears in Shadow Warrior (2013). She returns in the sequel as the true main antagonist, seeking to corrupt the human world with demons as revenge for the death of her brothers (Hoji and Enra).
Early History Edit
After defeating the forces of chaos and banishing them to the void, the Enra tasked Hoji with building a set of gates to prevent them from ever invading them again. In order to seal them, they used Ameonna's soul to seal them. But they still relied on the power of chaos by using Ameonna's tears to fuel their realm and their own desires. This puts Ameonna on a huge physical and mental strain.
Ameonna would forever remain at the top of a mountain, crying to supply the Shadow Realm with water. However, if she cried for too long, she could essentially drown the dimension with her tears. That is why every so often, Hoji would come up and deliver a temporary sleeping potion to her.
After some time, Hoji fell in love with his sister. They had an incestuous affair, which made her happy and stopped the rain. This caused a disastrous drought, and when the affair was discovered by Enra, the ruler of the Shadow Realm, Hoji's other brothers, Gozu, Mezu, and Xing, separated the pair and skinned Hoji's face as punishment, forcing him to wear a mask. Ameonna accepted her responsibility to the Shadow Realm, which embittered Hoji against her for her abandonment By manipulating Xing, Hoji poisoned Ameonna into eternal slumber.
Shadow Warrior (2013) Edit
At the end of Shadow Warrior, Lo Wang slays Enra thus awakening Ameonna. Upon seeing the dead body of Hoji, she weeps, bringing rain back to the Shadow Realm. She is last seen sitting with Lo Wang near dead Hoji's body.
The Collision Edit
During the Collision, parts of Shadow Realm were transported to Earth, including the Palace of the Ancients, where Ameonna and Gozu were residing. During the Battle of Bushuggi, Ameonna appears and walks through the battlefield completely unscathed. Her presence alone is enough to stop both demons and humans from fighting each other. Soon after she makes a peace treaty with humans, ending the Human Demon War altogether.
Entranced by her presence, both humans of young age and demons form a cult, the Kozy Klub. The clubs activities include meditation, prayer, singing and massive orgies. Although the people of Onishima are outraged by this cult and the fact that they children have left their home for Ameonna, Zilla refuses to take actions against them, fearing that this might start another war with demons. After consulting with Xing, she decides to make sex tapes of her, believing this would boost the numbers of her cultists. Ameonna then orders her cultists to infiltrate Zilla's Project Hope.
Shadow Warrior 2 Edit
After Lo Wang fends off Corrupted Kamiko, Ameonna contacts him and offers a safe place to rest, as Dragon Mountain is seriously damaged by ZillaCorps during their assault. There Wang reveals, that a Chi master put a Yakuza's boss daughter soul into his body. He asks Ameonna if she can't put the soul back to her body to which she agrees. But first Lo Wang must locate her mutated body and turned back to normal. She also asks to help out Gozu if he can, as he's been overwhelmed by his duties.
After helping Gozu and locating Kamiko's body, Ameonna tells Lo Wang that he will need to locate the girls father and retrieve his ancestral Chi, if he wants to return the girls soul back to her body. In order to locate Kamiko's father, Lo Wang retrieves his wakizashi given to Mamushi Helka. Because Helka's death leaves a strong imprint on the weapon, Ameonna can't locate the exact location of the Oyabun, but she can tell that he's somewhere in the vicinity of the Outer Gates.
Lo Wang returns, frustrated, telling that the Oyabun is Mezu. Ameonna isn't surprised by this as she was quite aware of this fact. She then reveals her true intentions -- namely, destroying Kamiko's soul, even if it means killing Lo Wang. She orders her Acolytes and other demon minions to kill Lo Wang before disappearing.
After Wang defeats Zilla, she projects an apparition to them and announces her true plan to destroy the Gates in order to end creation and with it herself. To accomplish this, her cultists, who infiltrated Zilla's Project Hope, steal Kamiko's body and bring it to the gates. There Gozu transfers Ameonna's soul into Kamiko's body, becoming a hideous spider-like abomination. When Lo Wang arrives, he's forced to fight the monstrous Ameonna in order to stop her from destroying all of the creation. Upon Ameonna's defeat, Mezu arrives and orders her to leave Kamiko's body. Ameonna refuses and Mezu decides to forcefully extract her. Encouraged by Kamiko, Lo Wang decides to kill Ameonna before her soul can be extracted. After the act, she expresses gratitude towards Lo Wang for putting her out of her misery.
Because she needs to weep all the time, Ameonna is in eternal sadness. Only Hoji made her happy and for this, she loved him. But her duty was always the biggest priority, abandoning even Hoji for it.
Since the events of Shadow Warrior 2013 her personality exhibited an large shift. Behaving highly egocentric and flirtatious while showing little regard for those around her. Conversation with Xing suggests that the eternal isolation and sadness she suffered through before combined with the loss of Hoji and Enra had broken her, turning her insane. Later proven when she attempted to end creation.
Shadow Warrior (2013) Edit
Ameonna has blue skin, black hair tied in two braids and two horns. In Whisperers memories she wore a red kimono.
Shadow Warrior 2 Edit
In the sequel, Ameonna begins to wear very revealing, leather armor, adorned with golden heraldry. She also wears stockings and high heels.
Ameonna's attacks are hard-hitting even on Normal mode, so keeping on the move is the key to survival. She throws out poison attacks and rocketlike fireballs against you if you stick to ranged attacks, and also slams her spider-legs down if you close in for melee. She will also try to run you over and send spikes your way, as both battles with Kamiko's body did. A melee weapon that can fire Force Slashes, such as the Arm of Orochi, is key for this fight on a melee build.
When the battle begins, at certain points during the fight, Ameonna will dip her giant glowing thorax into the ground and begin to heal herself. The thorax has a separate lifebar that can be depleted until it is destroyed, and once it is destroyed, Ameonna will no longer be able to heal. Continue attacking her until she sinks into the ground and regrows her thorax. In this final phase, she will spray numerous fireballs your way, but will no longer be able to move. Dodge her fireballs while wailing away with your most powerful weapon until her health bar is depleted completely.
- Ameonna is based on a Chinese goddess with same name from Mount Wushan, who may be considered a rain-bringer for crops.
