This marvel of archaic technology uses beams of unfiltered, chaotic Chi to synchronize energy emanating from the Dragon and trap it into a parallel dimension of its own making. Yeah, we don't know what any of that crap means, either."
- —Lore description in Shadow Warrior 3, where it's called "Hoji's Dragon-Killing Machine".
The Doomsday Device (also known as Chi Cannon or Hoji's Dragon-Killing Machine) was an ancient machinery created to capture the Evildoing Dragon. It also serves as one of the locations, Lo Wang visits in Shadow Warrior 3. It appears in Level 7: Doomsday Device.
History[]
Early History[]
Thousands years ago, the Evildoing Dragon came to the Shadow Realm to consume all the chi energy in the realm. The denizens of Shadow Realm, led by five brothers, rose up against the dragon. Although they threw everything they could at the dragon, they failed to kill him. Thus one of the brothers, Hoji, designed a magical machinery to ensnare the Evildoing Dragon and tap into his power. The machine used beams of unfiltered, chaotic chi to synchronize energy emanating from the dragon and trap it in a parallel dimension of its own making.
Shadow Warrior 3[]
After Hoji uses a dragon egg to hatch a new body for himself, he guides Lo Wang toward a contraption called a "Chi cannon", which supposedly has enough power to destroy the dragon. Unbeknownst to Wang, Hoji intends to use the cannon to drain the dragon's power and make it his, in order to become an all-powerful God. However, Hoji makes a miscalculation, and the dragon swallows the cannon.
Later, once Wang gets inside the dragon, he finds the Doomsday Device to be still operational. He then uses it to blow open an entry way into Evildoing Dragon's heart.
