"A demon so drunk with fury he thought it was a good idea to put a lampshade on his head. This yokai wanders the world in search of an honorable death. Grant that kindness! After you kill one, squat over its dead body and press crouch repeatedly to pay your respects."
—In-game description.

Hattori is a type of enemy appearing in Shadow Warrior 3.

Overview[]

The Hattori is a master swordsman, that has magical shield, which blocks all incoming damage. At range, Hattori can also throw knives. Executing a finisher on Hattori, grants the Blade of Hattori gore weapon.

Design[]

Hattori are humanoid yokai, wearing light clothes and a giant hat. He has four arms, which he uses to hold his large sword and throw knives.

Strategy[]

The most notable feature of the Hattori is it's magical shield. His shield can be broken by any weapon in Lo Wang's arsenal, but heavy weapons like the Basilisk and Crimson Bull work best.

Hattori can be countered by shooting at it until its shields (represented by 3 orbs above its head) disappear. When his shield is down, he is weak to any type of attack. Chi can also be used to stun him temporarily so you can get a few hits in before his shield recharges.

His guard can be entirely broken with one direct Basilisk shot, saving you the bullets it would otherwise take to break his shield. Once his guard is broken, be it ice or lightning, try to stun him, otherwise his shield will quickly regenerate.

Once his guard is broken and he is stunned, you can unleash heavy fire on him. There is no specific way of killing him past this, but it is recommended to use heavy weapons like the Basilisk, Crimson Bull, and Riot Gun on him. This is, however, an ammo consuming process, and you might want to get some either by sword or pickup once he is dead.

Trivia[]

  • Hattori could be a reference to Hattori Hanzō, a famous Samurai of the Sengoku era, who served Tokugawa clan, credited with saving the life of Tokugawa Ieyasu and then helping him to become the ruler of united Japan.
